We are a leading authority in the field of African Studies and research in Africa. We publish African Affairs, the top ranked journal, by citations, in the field of African Studies, publishing over 100 articles each year on topics as diverse as politics, history and economics.
Through our association for Africanist scholars, ASA UK, we provide a forum for discussing the most current ideas in the field by leading scholars though conferences and workshops.
We support the work of African scholars in Africa, and the UK, primarily through ASA-UK's teaching fellowships and writing workshops.Every two years, the editorial board of African Affairs awards The African Author Prize to recognise excellence in African Scholarship in African institutions and overseas.
We also carry out research as part of our parliamentary activities, including publishing reports on topics relevant to African society and politics, and in particular, how the UK government can impact positively in those matters.
