ABOUT THE FILM
‘Through the Fire’ shows a side of Somalia and Somaliland beyond the familiar reports of piracy, conflict and famine. It gives an intimate account of the life and work of three Somali women, Edna Adan Ismail, Dr Hawa Abdi and Ilwad Elman, who have each led groundbreaking humanitarian initiatives that have sustained their communities for years. In the face of incredible obstacles, these women have worked tirelessly to spearhead efforts towards peace and renewal, laying foundations for health, education and social infrastructure.
