Afrobarometer’s 2025 flagship report explores a theme – citizen engagement – that is central to every thriving democracy and lies at the heart of our mission “to make citizen voice a key pillar of Africa policy and decision making.

At a time when news about the health of our democracies can be sobering, the resolve of citizens to engage, to organise, to build, to vote and generally speak out remains a powerful source of hope. It is, I believe, our greatest hope for securing democratic, accountable and inclusive governance across the African Continent.
