Education & Outreach

At the Royal African Society, we are committed to engaging, inspiring and educating children, young people, their teachers and families about the rich cultural diversity of the African continent.

Our growing Education and Outreach Programme seeks to promote deeper understanding of the diversity of the African continent and the African diaspora through an exciting collection of learning experiences such as workshops, film screenings, family days, discussions and learning resources.

We place learners at the centre of our programme, working closely with schools to ensure that our offer meets student needs. We also partner with cultural organisations and teacher associations to design and deliver our programmes.

Through both our festivals, Africa Writes and Film Africa, we offer unique arts-based learning experiences with professional writers, filmmakers, and other creators. We also offer Continuing Professional Development & Learning (CPDL) events for teachers to enable them to connect with African histories, cultures and perspectives.
