Launched in 2012, Africa Writes is now the UK’s biggest platform celebrating contemporary African writing, with festivals in London and Bristol. Showcasing both established and emerging literary talent, our festivals’ programme feature panel discussions, book launches, performances, workshops and masterclasses, an international book fair and the Africa Writes Young Voices showcase event. Past headline speakers have included Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Ngugi wa Thiong’o with son Mukoma wa Ngugi, Wole Soyinka, Ama Ata Aidoo, Ben Okri, Nawal El Saadawi, Alain Mabanckou and Chigozie Obioma.
