Join the Royal Africa Society and SOAS for an insightful lecture about the UK Government Policy Towards Africa: Cooperation, investment, climate change, conflict and Africa’s role in global institutions

Andrew Mitchell MP was appointed Minister of State in the FCDO responsible for Development and Africa in October 2022. On 24 April, he will deliver a keynote address to the Royal African Society on the Government’s policy towards Africa.

In conversation with RAS’ Chairperson Arunma Oteh, the Minister will cover the prospects for developing the UK’s relationships and investments on the continent, our cooperation with African countries on the response to climate change and conflict, and Africa’s role in global institutions.

ABOUT THE MINISTER

Andrew Mitchell was appointed as a Minister of State in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) on 25 October 2022. He was previously Secretary of State for International Development from May 2010 to September 2012. He was elected Conservative MP for Sutton Coldfield on 7 June 2001.
