Since becoming Director in 2017, Nick has supported the staff and Council of the Society in fulfilling its role to provide a platform for and to amplify African voices. Before, during and after Covid, he has worked tirelessly with the team not only to sustain the Society but to help it grow and reach an ever-wider audience. The Society’s 120th Anniversary celebrations in 2021-22 marked a suitable point of departure, having charted a clear direction for the Society’s future. He leaves it ready for the next phase of its growth and evolution.
The Society’s Chairperson, Arunma Oteh, said: “Nick has done a wonderful job and everyone involved with the Society will miss his steady hand, clear vision, sense of humour and ability to deliver. He leaves the Society in great shape, and we look forward to seeing him still at our events.”
Nick said: “It has been a rare privilege to work with such a passionate, committed and entertaining team as we have at the Society. Though small, it is mighty. Every day brought something rewarding. I look forward to following the Society’s continuing journey for many years to come. Asante, na bahati njema.”
Nick will continue to support the Society from his continuing role at SOAS University of London.
