The Royal African Society at COP28
Posted on 4th December, 2023 in News
Royal African Society Council members, CEO and African Arguments editor will be at COP28 UAE. Looking for progress on real climate action and feasible solutions. Will the loss and damage fund announced at COP27 be set up at COP28 and will it work better than existing funds? What will be done about opening up access to finance for developing countries to adapt to climate impacts and build resilience in both rural and urban areas? Will new finance structures enable cities and regions to access finance directly – 1000’s of projects at local level are primed and ready to go? Will the world pay more attention to nature based solutions and listen to indigenous peoples? Will single commodity-centred economies, including oil and gas producers, be able to show climate-resilient economic diversification and transition? Will countries attending COP28 show that the opportunities in this future-focused agenda are finally driving real change on the ground? Hoping to catch up with delegates, participants and old friends from across the climate action and sustainable development spectrum
