Teaching Resources: Poetry in the Primary Classroom

On this page you will find Poetry in the Primary Classroom Teaching Resource Pack featuring African and diaspora poetry, reading materials and teaching sequences which were created during the Poetry in the Primary Classroom Programme.

Working with CLPE (the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education) and poets Ruth Awolola, Karl Nova and Amina Jama, we created informative videos and teaching resources that are now available to primary school teachers. These resources will enhance creativity in the classroom and increase children’s engagement in the literacy curriculum by way of African and diaspora poetry.
